Maximizing the individual, family and community potential of the youth in our care
Daniel J. Nellum Youth Services, Inc.
January 27th, 2013 marked the 21st anniversary of Daniel J. Nellum Youth Services, Inc., a major milestone for a small non-profit organization in today’s economy. As we celebrated the landmark, we remained cognizant of the fact that for some inner-city youth, 21 marks their aging-out of the system, a day of reckoning that removes them from parental/custodial control, or from the care and financial support provided by the government.
At Daniel J. Nellum Youth Services, Inc. we consider our residents as part of our family. We work hard to prepare them to be self-sufficient before the so-called 'emancipation.' And because we employ a holistic approach that makes us look like group home, a therapeutic living arrangement rather than a shelter, we know we've given them valuable tools that will help them face the challenges ahead. Our male staff serve as mentors, building rapport and setting positive examples for them.
Even after 21 years, we remain determined to assist in charting a better life, a better world for our youth; the same vision that influenced our founder, Mr. Daniel J. Nellum’s, in laying our foundation decades ago.
